I listen to bits and pieces of music from a wide range of artists—from Queen to Eminem, and Frank Sinatra to Hatsune Miku—so it’s hard to talk about my musical tastes. I thought posting photos of the LPs I own would be a good way to show this, so I’m uploading the records I have on hand. クイーンから、エミネム、フランクシナトラから初音ミクまで、とにかくいろんな人の楽曲をちょっとずつ聴くので、好きな音楽について語るのが難しい。そこで持っているLPを載せるのが効果的だと思ったので、とりあえず手元にあるLPをアップロードしています。

My first impression was that they were a "well-designed band". The music itself was different from what I had listened to before; rather than seeking out rhythms that make the heart leap, I listened to it to prod at some indefinable part of my curiosity. While I didn't get completely hooked right away, I found myself wanting to listen to them again after a while, and there simply weren't any other bands quite like them. For now, listening to DEVO remains the only way to get that particular kind of stimulation. 第一印象は、「よくデザインされたバンド」でした。楽曲も、心が躍るようなリズムを求めて聴くのではなく、好奇心のよく分からない部分をつつかれに行くために聴くといった感じで、今まで自分が聴いてきた音楽とは違っていました。だからそこまでハマり込んだわけでは無かったのですが、しばらくたってからまた聴きたくなったし、彼らに似たようなバンドは他に居ませんでした。だからよく分からない部分に刺激をもらうにはDEVOを聴くしか今のところは手段がありません。

I love the combination of this BW jacket and the bright yellow vinyl. I’m not fluent enough in English to grasp the nuances of the lyrics. Setting aside the lyrics and focusing purely on the atmosphere of the songs, I like tracks such as "Jerkin' Back 'n' Forth," "Time Out for Fun," and "Dogs of Democracy". Though I consider this a very foolish way to listen (especially with bands like DEVO). I want to learn more about them. I feel that we all think less than we used to and are currently in a state of "De-EVOlution," but I want to keep DEVO’s music close at hand so that we can remain "thinking reeds." 白黒のジャケットに真っ黄色のビニールが気に入っています。英語の歌詞を聴いて一発で意図を理解出来るほど言語に精通していないので、歌詞の意味を抜きにして、楽曲の雰囲気で言うと"Jerkin' Back 'n' Forth"や"Time Out for Fun"や"Dogs of Democracy"が好きですが、こういう聴き方はとても愚かであると思っています。(DEVOなどのバンドの場合は特に)
もっと彼らについて勉強したいです。私たちは現在進行形で退化(De-EVOlution)の中にいると思いますが、考える葦で在るためにもDEVOの楽曲を小脇に抱えておきたい。

If someone asks me to recommend a band, I name them. When I first saw the MV of "Do It All The Time", I felt a genuine sense of excitement something I hadn't experienced in a long time. There is a great appeal to a retro or aged look that has been made with care and effort. It is incredibly cool when this style is adopted intentionally, not merely to bask in nostalgia, but to build a unique world of its own. Among these, I especially like "Choke." オススメのバンドを聞かれたら必ず彼らを挙げる。初めて "Do It All The Time"のMVを見た時、久しぶりにとんでもねぇもん見たと、マジの興奮があった。 手間をかけて作られたレトロさや古さはとても魅力がある。単に懐かしさに浸るためではなく、独自の世界観を構築するために意図的にそうしているのはとてもクールだ…。ここに収録されている中だと"Choke"が好き。

This album features many of my favorite iDKHOW songs. It feels like it has a stronger sense of nostalgia than the "1981 Extended Play." I really love "Nobody Likes the Opening Band," "New Invention," and "From the Gallows". I love listening to them at sunset. It feels like I'm plummeting toward the sun while burning fiercely (I'm not on drugs).s I’m dying to see them live. iDKHOWの中でも特に好きな楽曲の多いアルバムです。"1981 Extended Play"よりもノスタルジックな香りが強いように感じます。"Nobody Likes the Opening Band" "New Invention" "From the Gallows"が好きです。夕焼けの時間に聴くのが大好き。猛烈に燃えながら太陽に向かって急降下しているような気分になれる（薬はやってないよ！）。切実にライブに行きたいです。
The London Sessions 1928-1930 - Al Bowlly

I discovered Al Bowlly through The Caretaker's "It's Just a Burning Memory." I really like the performance of "The Very Thought of You" at Pathé Studios that can be seen on YouTube, but I wonder if there’s an LP that includes that version... Then again, I haven't even been able to find a record containing the standard version. I couldn't find any of his albums at local record shops or even at major stores in Tokyo, so everything I own was purchased from online shops. The Caretakerの"It's just a burning memory"からアル・ボウリーを知りました。YouTubeで見られる"The Very Thought of You"のパフォーマンスが好きです。このPathé Studiosで歌っているものが好きなのですが、これが収録されているLPは無いのでしょうか…。まあ通常バージョンが収録されたものも見つけられないのですが…。自分の近辺のレコードショップや東京の大きなレコードショップでも見つけられなかったので、自分が所有しているのは全てオンラインストアで購入したものです。

I’m definitely keen to get an LP that includes classics like "Heartaches" and "Midnight With the Stars and You," or a cover of "Over the Rainbow"; honestly, though, I’m just happy to own *any* Al Bowlly record, so I end up buying them whenever I spot one. In this case, I was completely won over by the cover art. It brings a smile to my face just seeing the Victor dog not all alone. It’s a heartwarming scene, yet there’s something wonderfully awkward about the way Bowlly’s legs are stretched out stiffly. "Heartaches","Midnight With the Stars and You"等の王道や、"Over the Rainbow"のカバーなどが収録されたLPは是非ともほしいですが、正直アルボウリーのLPはどれでも手元にあるだけで嬉しいので、見つけたら買ってしまいます。これは完全にジャケットに釣られました。ビクター犬が独りぼっちじゃないだけで笑みがこぼれます。温かいシーンなのに、どこかぎこちなく伸びきったアルボウリーのカチカチの脚が最高です。
The Shocking Miss Emerald - Caro Emerald

Personally, I consider Caravan Palace to be the pinnacle of electro-swing, but I also think more people ought to be talking about Caro Emerald. The first song of hers I discovered was "Tangled Up", which was frequently used in animation memes. I thought it was cool at the time, but after listening to "Coming Back as a Man" and "The Maestro", I was completely captivated by her. Electro-swing comes in various styles. Some leaning more towards the "electro" side and others more towards the "swing", but her tracks are so incredibly elegant, refined, and cool. 個人的には、キャラバン・パレスこそがエレクトロ・スウィングの頂点だと思っていますが、カロ・エメラルドはもっと多くの人に言及されるべきだとも思っています。 初めて知った曲はアニメーションミームでよく使用されていた"Tangled up"で、その時にもかっこいいなと思ったのですが、"Coming back as a man"と"Maestro"を聴いて完全に彼女の虜になりました。エレクトロスウィングにはエレクトロの部分が強い物とスウィングの部分が強いもの、いろいろあると思います。しかし彼女の楽曲のなんとエレガントで上品でかっこいいことか…。

Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs - Marty Robbins

I bought this LP because I felt it was absolutely essential. It is thoroughly steeped in the atmosphere of the American West. The limited-edition clear vinyl looks cool. The only downside is that "Saddle Tramp" isn't included. これは絶対に必要なLPだと思ったから買った。余すところなく西部の空気が充満している。西部劇は好きだけど、時代も文化も私にはかけ離れすぎている。だからこのLPが回っている間、私の目前には偽物の荒野しか現れないけれど、その理想像にまぬけに浸るのが最高だ。限定のクリアビニールがかっこいい。"Saddle Tramp"が収録されていないのだけは残念である。
Mother Earth's Plantasia - Mort Garson

How did I find out about Mort Garson? I think it was through a post by the Swedish audiovisual artist Love Hultén. His wall-mounted player sample video playing on it happened to be *Plantasia*. It only played for a few seconds, but the moment I heard it, I was struck. "What is that sound!?" I looked it up. The backstory and concept behind the album are wonderful, too. なんでモート・ガーソンを知ったんだっけ。たしかスウェーデンのオーディオビジュアルアーティスト、ラブ・ハルテンの投稿作品の中の一つに、壁掛けプレイヤーがあって、そのサンプル映像でちょうど流れてたのがこのプランタジアだったと思う。数秒しか流れなかったのに、聞いた瞬間「なんだ今の音⁈」って衝撃を受けて調べたような気がする。このアルバムが作られた経緯やコンセプトも素敵だ。

If I were asked which LP I’d take with me to the afterlife, I’d have a hard time deciding—but this would certainly be a top contender. To think that the only Bing Crosby LP I own isn't a Christmas album, but a collection of Hawaiian songs... あの世にLPを持っていくとしたら？と聞かれたらかなり迷うが、きっとこれは最有力候補だ。唯一持っているビングクロスビーのlpがクリスマスソングではなくてハワイアンソング集だとは…。

My Coloring Book And Her Other Great Hits - Kitty Kallen

I was listening "Little Things Mean A Lot" while driving, I suddenly felt the urge to own the LP, so I bought it. I chose this album because, in addition to that track, it includes "It's Been a Long, Long Time" which is my all-time favorite jazz song, and I really love the cover design. It came with Japanese liner notes, which is great because I can learn about the music and its historical context—as well as details about Kitty Kallen!

However, the version of that song included isn't the famous 1945 original, but rather a cover version recorded after her comeback from retirement. According to the liner notes, it features an up-tempo arrangement. I absolutely love the unhurried, serene, yet splendid sense of a finale found in the 1945 version, so I felt a twinge of disappointment.But that feeling was fleeting! What a magnificent experience it turned out to be! Sung with vibrant energy yet the composure that comes with maturity, the song evoked a different kind of finale—distinct from the 1945 version. It felt as though the performers had lightly stepped back onto the stage in response to the audience's applause for a final farewell, or perhaps like the arrangement of the main theme that plays during the closing moments of a movie's end credits. Even the same song varies depending on the orchestra or vocalist. But there are even different versions of the same song performed by the same vocalist. I catch a glimpse of the obsessive side of LP collecting and it terrifies me.Side note: For a while after the vocals began in "If I Give My Heart To You", I didn't realize it was a song I knew. That’s because I had only ever listened to the Doris Day version; it feels a bit lacking without those guys singing "Bo-bo-bo-bo-bom."

しかし、お目当ての「Its been a long long time」は有名な45年版ではなく、引退から復活した後のカバーバージョンでした。解説によると、アップテンポの編曲がされているとのことです。45年版のゆったりおだやか、それでいて華やかな終幕感が大好きなので、少しだけがっかりする。しかしそんなのは束の間！なんとまあ素晴らしいことか！年嵩の増した落ち着きのある声でハツラツと歌い上げられていた楽曲は、45年版とはまたちがった終幕感がありました。これで最後のお別れ！と観客の拍手に応えて演者が軽やかに舞台に戻って来たかのような、それとも映画のエンドロールの終盤で流れるメインテーマのアレンジ版とでも言うべきでしょうか。同じ楽曲でも、楽団やヴォーカルによって違いがあるが、同じ楽曲同じヴォーカルでもバージョン違いがあるんだ…とLP収集のマニアの部分を垣間見て恐怖する。補足：「If I Give My Heart To You」は歌いだすまで自分が知っている曲だと分からなかった。今までドリスデイ版しか聞いていなかったからだ。おじさんたちの「ボボボボボン♪」の声が無いと寂しい。

I bought this at Fuji Records Old Book Center in Tokyo. It’s a shop I rarely get the chance to visit, so I imposed on friends to stop by with me while we were traveling. I stumbled upon it while hurriedly flipping through the records. I was truly lucky. (Huge thanks to friends who waited for me.) I love "Cry Me a River" and have listened to it often, so it was a fantastic moment when I pulled out that familiar album cover. The song is a bitter lament directed at a lover who is a traitor, sung with a rhythm that oscillates between unease and tenderness; while the subject matter is inherently frightening,

listening to this track somehow brings me a sense of comfort. Perhaps the tenderness stands out all the more precisely because of that underlying unease? I also listened to Michael Bublé’s cover, but it was so over-the-top that it actually felt scarier than the original (though I do like the Bublé version, too!). It feels like he might pull out a gun and shoot at you from across the river.more

I bought this album because I like "The Great Curve." Reading the liner notes, I learned for the first time about "African beat"—a style that apparently features heavily throughout this album. I remember being struck by how much "The Great Curve" reminded me of old Japanese superhero anime when I first heard it. Being completely ignorant about the subject, I simply wondered which came first; however, it may not be a matter of one influencing the other, but rather that both were influenced by African beats, leading to those similarities.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any literature discussing the connection between the music of *tokusatsu* hero shows and African beats, but I did recall something relevant. There is a video on a YouTube channel—which posts AI-generated songs featuring the Yajuu Senpai ( famous Japanese meme)—that uses a thumbnail image evoking the atmosphere of an African tribe; interestingly, the song itself sounds just like the music from old hero anime. While it is unclear what specific prompts were used to generate the music and the thumbnail, it seems unlikely that African beats and the music of classic hero anime are completely unrelated.more
特撮ヒーローものの音楽とアフリカンビートの関連性についての文献は残念ながら見つけられていませんが、個人的に思い当たる節がありました。野獣先輩のAiソングを投稿しているYoutubeチャンネルの動画の一つに、雰囲気だけアフリカ部族っぽいサムネイル画像の楽曲があるのですが、この楽曲がこれまた昔のヒーローアニメっぽいのです。楽曲とサムネイルがそれぞれどういうプロンプトで生成されたのかは不明ですが、少なくともアフリカンビートと昔のヒーローアニメ音楽が全くの無関係ということは無いのではないでしょうか。

I first saw the animated film "Yellow Submarine" during a university class on the history of animation. It made a huge impact on me. My parents owned red Album, so my only impression of the band was based on songs like "Help!" and "Yesterday"—which made the experience all the more striking. It was likely the first LP I ever bought.I also enjoy other Beatles songs, such as "Maxwell's Silver Hammer." I definitely want to add more of their albums to my collection. アニメーション映画「イエローサブマリン」を初めて見たのは大学のアニメーション史の授業でした。あまりにも衝撃的でした。ビートルズの赤盤を親が所有していたので、ビートルズといえば「ヘルプ！」や「イエスタデイ」のイメージしかなかった。だからより衝撃が大きかったです。恐らく初めて買ったLPです。ビートルズは他に「マックスウェルシルバーハンマー」等も好きです。他のアルバムも是非増やしたい。

I love "When I'm Sixty-Four" and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," so I bought this album early on. I first heard "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" in an animated film the contrast between the distinctive art style and Paul singing with such a powerful voice was incredibly cool—I fall for it all over again every time I watch it. "When I'm Sixty-Four"と"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"がビートルズの中でも好きなので、このアルバムを早い段階で買った。"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"を初めて聴いたのはアニメーション映画の中でだったが、あの独特の絵柄で描かれたポールが力強い声で歌っているギャップがあまりにもかっこよくて、見る度に惚れてしまう。

I started listening to a lot of music back in junior high school. I had a habit of watching Undertale memes before going to bed, and I think it all began when I came across the song "Lone Digger" by Caravan Palace there. Having loved Disney since childhood, I was already a fan of old cartoons and the upbeat jazz played in the parks. So, perhaps it was only natural that I would be captivated by the electro-swing genre. From there, I began listening to a wide range of genres, including hard rock, indie, pop, and new wave. Since I was in junior high during the era when it was already easy to listen to music on platforms like YouTube, my approach was less about deeply immersing myself in a single album and more about exploring a vast array of music superficially. That is why there isn't much I can say about it in depth. I would really like to acquire a proper understanding of music. 音楽をたくさん聴き始めたのは中学校の頃です。undertaleのmemeを見てから寝るという習慣があったのですが、そこでcaravan palaceのlone diggerという楽曲に出会ったのが始まりだったと思います。 幼いころからディズニーが好きだったので、オールドカートゥーンやパーク内で流れる軽快なジャズは元から大好きでした。だからエレクトロスウィングというジャンルに心を奪われるのは当然だったのかもしれません。 そこからハードロック、インディ、ポップス、ニューウェイブ、など幅広く聴くようになりました。私の中学時代は、もうyoutubeなどで気軽に楽曲を聴ける時代でしたから、一つのアルバムを繰り返し聴き込むというよりは、浅く広く聴き漁るというかんじでした。 だから語れることは少ないです。正しく音楽の知識を付けたいものです。
